Job Overview
Position Title: Finance Manager
Organization: Media Council of Tanzania (MCT)
The Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) is a non-governmental, self-regulatory organization dedicated to upholding media freedom and encouraging professional and accountable journalism in Tanzania.
MCT is currently executing a five-year Strategic Programme (2023–2027), focused on advancing freedom of expression and press, as well as strengthening media professionalism and accountability to better support national development and democratic governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and authorize bank reconciliation reports
- Coordinate with external auditors and ensure smooth financial audits
- Attend meetings of the Board and its committees as delegated by the Executive Secretary
- Actively participate in Tender Board discussions and offer constructive input
- Lead departmental planning and budget preparation
- Provide mentoring and coaching to finance team members, interns, and volunteers
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Executive Secretary
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or ACCA qualification or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting from a recognized institution
- A Master’s degree in Financial Management, Accounting, or Business Administration is a plus
Experience:
- Minimum of six (6) years in a senior finance or accounting role
- Demonstrated experience managing donor-funded projects
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in written and spoken English
- Familiarity with various accounting software applications
- Strong project implementation and coordination skills
- Effective multitasking and teamwork abilities
- Advanced financial analysis capabilities
- Self-driven, proactive, and energetic
