Position: HDPE & PU Operator
Company: China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co., Ltd (CPP)
Total Exploration and Development Uganda Limited (TEPU), CNOOC Uganda Limited (CUL), and the Government of Uganda have discovered crude oil in the Lake Albert region and plan to construct a pipeline to transport production from the Kingfisher area to Buliisa–Nwoya, enabling export to the international market.
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is part of the Lake Albert Development Project— a 1,443-kilometer cross-border pipeline designed to transport crude oil from Uganda to the Port of Tanga on Tanzania’s east coast. The EACOP system comprises three main components: above-ground installations (AGIs), the pipeline itself, and marine storage terminals (MSTs). The AGIs include six pumping stations (PS-1 to PS-6) and two pressure-reducing stations (PRS-1 and PRS-2) along the route. The pipeline features a 24-inch, continuously heated export system, running from the Kabaale hub pumping station (PS-1) in Uganda’s Hoima region to storage facilities in Tanzania’s Tanga region. It also incorporates intermediate valve chambers, electric heat tracing (EHT) systems, high-voltage distribution (HV) and fiber optic (FO) cables, related equipment, and EHT substations.
