Position: Head of Finance Operations

Role Overview:

This role is responsible for managing end-to-end finance operations, accounting processes, and related projects to ensure the Group’s financials are accurately presented and comply with relevant accounting standards. The goal is to deliver top-tier finance transaction processing through standardized, efficient processes.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining Group accounting policies and ensuring their consistent application across all finance functions and operational companies. The role also involves overseeing accounting for indirect and direct taxes, fixed assets, receivables and payables, wholesale traffic transactions (e.g., invoicing, netting, payments across suppliers and customers), and intercompany transactions, in collaboration with the Tax team.

Building strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including VOIS, is essential. The role requires a focus on process innovation, continuous improvement, and driving operational efficiency and cost reduction.

Key Responsibilities & Decision-Making Scope:

• Establish a solid partnership with the Head of Finance Operations at Vodacom/Vodafone.
• Define and lead the strategy for the Finance Operations function, covering process optimization, talent development, organizational support, and tech systems.
• Ensure proper application of accounting standards (local and international) and Vodafone’s Group policies (VGIAP) in all initiatives, services, and products, aligning commercial needs with finance compliance.
• Oversee adherence to Core Business Model (CBM) frameworks, governance standards, and compliance requirements including SOX and audit processes.
• Guarantee financial reporting accuracy in line with applicable GAAPs and maintain SOX compliance across the operating company.
• Lead people and organizational development to support the company’s long-term finance roadmap.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

What You Bring:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Chartered Accountant or equivalent professional accounting qualification
• 10+ years of experience in financial accounting
• Proven ability to communicate, influence, and make decisions across conflicting priorities
• Hands-on operational finance background
• Proficiency with SAP ERP and HFM systems
• Strong technical accounting expertise
• Experience in financial leadership roles within large, international organizations
• Telecom sector experience is a strong advantage
