Barrick is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Manager. This role is critical in fostering a safety-first culture by coordinating, guiding, and organizing team efforts in line with company standards, best practices, and government regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the effective implementation of health, safety, training, and emergency response systems to ensure full compliance with relevant policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain zero harm outcomes: zero injuries, fatalities, lost time incidents (LTI), or medical treatment incidents (MTI) for all employees and contractors

  • Develop and implement emergency response and crisis management strategies

  • Ensure employees complete their annual medical assessments and manage site first aid and health surveillance programs

  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations through audits, inspections, and contractor oversight

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health and Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001 standards

  • Align local safety programs with regional and national frameworks

  • Manage the Industrial Hygiene Program and ensure the availability and maintenance of health-related equipment and supplies

  • Develop, implement, and track safety training initiatives, emergency drills, and technical training programs

  • Ensure legal compliance in all aspects of occupational health and safety

  • Supervise safety systems across departments including mining, maintenance, technical services, and the environment

  • Deliver safety performance metrics and manage cost-effective training within allocated budgets

  • Foster a positive safety culture through the “Journey to Zero Harm” program

  • Ensure induction and ongoing statutory training for all employees and visitors

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the mining, construction, processing, or manufacturing sectors

  • At least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role, with 7 years in senior-level OHS positions

  • Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety

  • Additional certifications in Risk Management, Auditing, Investigation, and Mine Rescue

  • Strong technical knowledge in OHS practices and systems

  • Ability to lead and influence safety initiatives and teams across departments
