Job Summary: Product Controller

The role of a Product Controller is crucial in ensuring the independent verification, accuracy, and transparent reporting of financial data for the Markets and Treasury functions.

Key Responsibilities

Product Control & Governance – 80%

• Prepare and report daily, monthly, and year-to-date profit and loss (P&L) statements for designated trading desks.
• Ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger and accurately valued.
• Conduct regular analysis of Foreign Exchange Trading performance.
• Verify that trading positions adhere to established limits and comply with governance standards.
• Perform daily reconciliation of balance sheets, addressing and resolving any discrepancies.
• Deliver insightful commentary on P&L fluctuations and significant variances.
• Collaborate with front office, finance, and risk teams to address queries and ensure alignment on trading results.
• Submit required financial reports to regulatory bodies in a timely and accurate manner.
• Participate in monthly closing activities, including price testing and bid-offer adjustments.
• Facilitate sign-offs by reconciling results between front and back office systems.
• Promote continuous process improvement to enhance accuracy, control, and efficiency.

Risk Management – 10%

• Uphold strong compliance standards by adhering to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery to safeguard the bank’s reputation.

Personal Development – 10%

• Proactively develop technical and soft skills, in collaboration with the Head of Product Control and Governance.
• Identify and pursue learning opportunities to support professional growth.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred.
• At least two years of experience in a relevant financial environment.

Core Skills and Competencies

• Solid understanding of both standard and complex Markets and Treasury products.
• Knowledge of key financial risks such as interest rate, currency, and credit risk.
• Familiarity with regulatory expectations and ethical practices in market operations.
• Proficient in Excel and capable of handling multiple tasks under pressure.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Digital awareness and a proactive approach to leveraging technology.
• Creative thinker with a focus on sustainable and practical solutions.
