Position: Relationship Manager – SME Banking (2 Vacancies)

Role Overview:

The Relationship Manager for SME Banking will focus on nurturing client relationships within the SME segment to increase client loyalty, boost customer numbers, and meet set sales and income goals. This role includes onboarding new clients and maintaining strong ties with existing ones, ensuring products are delivered efficiently and clients’ financial needs are fully addressed. Acting as the main point of contact for clients, the Relationship Manager will also work to expand wallet share and support the overall growth and diversification of the SME portfolio, while meeting performance goals related to revenue and profitability. The role involves developing and executing SME-focused strategies that align with broader Retail, Corporate, and Digital Banking objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Growth:

  • Lead strategic initiatives to grow the SME and Business Banking portfolio.
  • Engage potential clients and expand the bank’s presence through consistent outreach and visits.
  • Create a pipeline of new prospects and align strategies with the branch network.
  • Monitor portfolio KPIs including sales, credit quality, and revenue performance.
  • Regularly report progress and adjust plans to meet business targets.
  • Collaborate with product teams to cross-sell financial solutions such as trade finance and treasury services.
  • Monitor client borrowing behavior and ensure proactive risk management.
  • Identify local market dynamics and competitor activities to refine product offerings.

Client Relationship & Service Management:

  • Retain and grow client deposits at sustainable and competitive rates.
  • Ensure fixed deposit renewals and encourage clients to engage in transactional products.
  • Act as a client advocate, relaying feedback to improve products and services.
  • Handle escalated customer concerns to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution.
  • Help meet targets for Net Promoter Scores (NPS) and Current Account Savings Account (CASA) ratios.

Credit and Risk Management:

  • Provide accurate credit information to the credit risk team to aid in proposal preparation.
  • Track compliance with all loan covenants, board decisions, and required documentation.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to AML and KYC policies.
  • Ensure quick turnaround in processing client applications and maintain up-to-date risk records.
  • Promote a strong risk management culture and close out any audit findings.
  • Oversee timely submission of valuation reports, insurance, and financial documents.
  • Support the Retail and Digital Banking Head in budgeting and performance reporting.

Required Skills and Competencies:

Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong in credit evaluation and risk analysis
  • Sound understanding of SME products and financial reports
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., KYC, AML)

  • Skilled at building lasting client relationships
