ROLE PURPOSE:
The role of Technical Aid 2 – Exploration is to support the Exploration Drilling Shift Supervisor in conducting daily technical tasks. This includes driving and field-related activities in alignment with standard operating procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Secondary School Certificate and/or Diploma or higher
EXPERIENCE:
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in geology or a mining-related environment
- Must possess a valid Tanzanian driving license and be able to drive a light vehicle
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess potential risks and identify safe working procedures before performing tasks
- Recognize and address safety hazards and encourage others to work safely
- Follow and promote safety best practices
- Continually monitor the work environment for new hazards and report them
- Report all incidents, injuries, or health concerns promptly
- Recommend ways to improve safety performance in the Geology department
- Raise concerns if a task cannot be done safely or if unable to perform duties optimally
- Supervise samplers and assistants during field work, including drilling, sampling, and drill pad activities
- Use GPS for navigation and understand basic map reading to identify geological points
- Prepare and submit daily work reports and perform proper shift handovers
- Conduct Geotech A core logging and perform DD/RC sampling at drill sites or the core shed
- Provide field and drilling support, including transporting crews, samples, and consumables
- Maintain a strong safety culture with the goal of zero harm
- Oversee drill rig operations during active drilling
- Ensure availability of all drilling consumables
- Coordinate timely crew transport to and from drill sites and pads
- Maintain light vehicle condition in line with GGML mobile equipment standards
