Role Purpose:
The primary responsibility of this role is to perform inspections, diagnostics, and condition monitoring on both mobile and fixed mining equipment. By utilizing various tools and techniques, the technician will detect equipment issues early to ensure safe, efficient, and dependable mining operations. All tasks must align with safety standards and company policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- VETA NTA Level 3 in Diesel Mechanics, FTC, or Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering (or equivalent)
- A valid Tanzanian driving license is mandatory
Work Experience:
- At least two (2) years of experience in condition monitoring within the mining industry, with a focus on both heavy mobile machinery and fixed plant systems
Additional Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of diagnostic and monitoring methods
- Proficiency in using equipment such as vibration analyzers, thermography cameras, and ultrasonic devices
- Ability to predict maintenance needs through data interpretation
- Ability to drive manual transmission light vehicles
- Certification in condition monitoring methods (e.g., NDT)
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Team player with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct monitoring and diagnostics on mobile and stationary mining equipment
- Use specialized tools like thermography cameras, sound analyzers, and vibration data collectors
- Identify potential mechanical faults and suggest corrective actions
- Perform inspection techniques such as MPI, LPI, and ultrasonic flaw detection
- Support tasks like balancing, alignment, and lubrication system monitoring
- Collect and analyze oil and grease samples
- Prepare technical reports and documentation
- Comply with checklists, work orders, and safety protocols
- Communicate and report any irregular equipment behavior promptly
- Uphold company values in daily work behavior
