Role Overview
The Learning and Development Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing people development strategies that align with the bank’s objectives. This role involves building strong relationships with business leaders and staff to identify capability gaps and offer targeted solutions through training, coaching, and mentorship programs. The manager will also ensure that learning initiatives are regularly evaluated to guarantee a skilled workforce that supports both organizational goals and individual career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business leaders and staff to identify skill gaps and learning needs tied to performance and strategic goals.
- Partner with the Senior Manager, Talent Management, to develop and deliver programs such as mentoring, coaching, and job shadowing.
- Create and implement structured learning and development plans to meet the organization’s training goals.
- Design learning curricula in collaboration with business units to support operational effectiveness.
- Leverage data and analytics to drive decisions around training and development priorities.
- Organize and lead learning sessions that enhance employee skills in line with business standards.
- Continuously review training programs to keep pace with technology and evolving skill requirements, and adjust content accordingly.
- Assess the impact and effectiveness of training initiatives, recommending improvements where necessary.
- Maintain a training database to categorize employees based on skill levels.
- Oversee the planning, maintenance, and operation of training facilities.
- Advise employees on development opportunities and career growth pathways.
- Prepare and manage the annual Learning and Development budget.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of the banking industry and its operational environment.
- Proven experience in Learning & Development, Training, or similar HR roles.
- Up-to-date knowledge of modern learning methodologies and tools.
- Proficient in curriculum design and instructional methodologies.
- Familiarity with e-learning systems and digital training tools.
- Solid project management and budgeting skills.
- Skilled in using MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to establish productive relationships with employees, managers, and external vendors.
Education and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Psychology, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree and/or professional certifications in L&D or HR will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in Human Resources, with at least 3 years focused on Learning and Development.
- Demonstrated success in supporting organizational learning strategies in competitive and fast-paced environments.
- Recognized as a reliable advisor in people development and talent management.
