The headquarters are located 120 km from the Dodoma Regional headquarters. The Council is located between latitude 6 ° 00 ”and 7 ° 00” south of the equator and longitude 35 ° 45 ”and 35 ° 00” east of the ‘Greenwich’ line.
Mpwapwa District Council borders Kongwa District Council to the north, Chamwino District Council to the west. To the east it borders Kilosa District Council (Morogoro region) and to the south it borders Iringa District Council (Iringa Region).
