Moshi Municipal is one among seven District Council which form Kilimanjaro Region. Other District Councils includes Moshi District, Mwanga Districts, Same District Rombo District, Hai and Siha District. Moshi Municipal Council is Located in south of Mount Kilimanjaro between 3o, 18 Latitude South and 37o,20 Longitude East .
According to the population census of 2012 Moshi Municipal Council has a population of 184,292 which includes 89,174 male and 95,118 female. The population exclude an additional of 80,000 – 85,000 day population who come to work and conduct business in town but spend nights in surrounding nearby rural area.
The Municipal Council is classified as tropical savanna area but due to the influence of mount Kilimanjaro which is situated in the North area, the Municipal climate varies considerably. Rain fall is bimodal with two rain season, long rain (Masika) and short rain (Vuli)
