The Embassy of Belgium in Tanzania is recruiting an Accountant (m/f/x) to join its team in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate is expected to start in mid-August 2026. The Embassy is looking for someone who works diligently and independently, is client-oriented, and can follow technical instructions thoroughly.

The Embassy offers the following:

  • A varied job with responsibility in a pleasant international environment.

  • Gross salary of TZS 4,125,240 per month for a candidate with two years of experience.

Duties and responsibilities

Accounting operations

The Accountant will be responsible for accounting-related tasks, including:

  • Collecting and/or providing the necessary information and documents from or to contact persons and managers.
  • Encoding and updating data in the required accounting systems.
  • Preparing financial documents according to schedule, including:
  • Remuneration receipts.
  • Bonus tables.
  • Calculation of promotions.
  • Planning budgets according to the planned timetable, including:
  • Budget previews.
  • Budget reviews.
  • Monthly budget evolutions.
  • Preparing payments.
  • Managing communications with banks and other third parties related to accounting tasks.
  • Archiving accounting items and documents according to instructions.
  • Monitoring and/or managing consular revenues.
  • Helping with the renegotiation of contracts under the supervision of the Head of Administration.
  • Reviewing invoices, disbursement statements, receipts, and related documents before submitting them to the manager.
  • Transmitting communications from local bodies relevant to budget management, including matters such as social contributions and VAT systems.
  • Ensuring that accounting standards and principles are observed.
  • Accurately and consistently assessing budgetary and accounting documents.
  • Assessing available funds in cash and at the bank.
  • Pointing out possible financial issues such as overspending or liquidity shortfalls.
  • Consulting various databases and verifying consistency and harmonization between them.
  • Logistics management operations
  • The Accountant will also support logistics management related to buildings, vehicles, and services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Listing work, supplies, and various service needs based on received information.
  • Suggesting priorities according to urgency and budgetary constraints.
  • Drafting or helping to draft specifications for works, equipment, and services.
  • Monitoring and/or contributing to public contract monitoring, including:
  • Receiving and analyzing tenders.
  • Drafting attribution reports.
  • Writing order forms.
  • Following up on services.
  • Contributing to stock management of various equipment, including:
  • Vehicles.
  • Office equipment.
  • Technical devices.
  • Decoration items.
  • Keeping inventories up to date.
  • Supervising works and building safety.
  • Managing contacts with security firms.
  • ICT single point of contact responsibilities

The Accountant will act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for ICT. Duties include:

  • Keeping the inventory of ICT equipment up to date.
  • Notifying relevant teams about ICT needs and deficiencies.
  • Helping to install equipment, including hardware and software.
  • Acting as the contact person between the post and the Department’s ICT services.

Optimizing and updating communication resources, including:

  • Telephones.
  • Smartphones.
  • Internet services.
  • Ensuring good management of communication budgets.
  • Required qualifications, skills, and competencies
  • Conditions of participation

Applicants must have:

  • A university degree in a related field; or
  • Equivalent relevant experience.
  • Technical skills

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • At least two years of experience in a similar Accountant role.
    Good computer skills, including knowledge of:
    Word.
    Excel.
    PowerPoint.
    Outlook.
  • Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respect deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and accurately.
