Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Maintenance Execution & Reliability:
- Plan, schedule, and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to optimize plant availability and eliminate unplanned downtime.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and overhaul heavy industrial mechanical machinery, including flour milling equipment and associated continuous-process plant systems.
- Operational & Team Leadership:
- Supervise, mentor, and direct day-to-day work for maintenance technicians, fitters, and external service contractors.
- Assist in the installation, testing, alignment, and commissioning of new plant machinery and technical equipment.
- Manage critical spare parts inventory, monitoring stock levels to prevent operational disruptions.
- Cross-Functional & Safety Coordination:
- Coordinate maintenance schedules closely with the Milling Operations team to maintain seamless production flow.
- Uphold strict compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and internal quality assurance standards.
- Performance Analysis & Continuous Improvement:
- Track and analyze Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to enhance mechanical equipment reliability.
- Compile technical maintenance reports and recommend continuous improvement initiatives to boost overall plant operational efficiency.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Education & Professional Registrations:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Professional License: Professional registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Tanzania is an added advantage.
Work Experience & Technical Competencies:
- Experience Level: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Industry Background: Direct experience in flour milling, food manufacturing, FMCG, or continuous process industries is highly desirable.
- Specialized Expertise: Demonstrated technical experience operating and maintaining Bühler milling equipment is a distinct advantage.
