Cashier Job Vacancy at MUV Group
A dynamic high end restaurant and lounge is looking for Cashier who will be responsible for accurately processing all customer transactions, receiving and safeguarding cash and other forms of payment, operating the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, issuing receipts, maintaining accurate transaction records, and ensuring that all sales are properly accounted for.
The ideal candidate should be trustworthy, well-presented, confident, efficient, and highly attentive to detail, with a genuine commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience. The Cashier must ensure that every transaction is processed in accordance with company procedures, approved pricing, discounts, promotions, and internal financial controls.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CASH AND PAYMENT MANAGEMENT
- Receive and accurately process payments from customers using approved payment methods, including: Cash, Credit/debit cards, Mobile money,and Bank transfers.
- Count cash received from customers carefully and accurately before processing the transaction.
- Provide the correct change to customers and ensure that all cash transactions are recorded in the POS system.
- Keep the assigned cash float secure and ensure that the opening cash balance is verified at the beginning of each shift.
- Immediately report any suspected counterfeit notes, fraudulent transactions, payment discrepancies, or suspicious customer activity to the supervisor.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding company cash balances, sales information, customer transactions, and financial records.
- Ensure that all cash received is properly accounted for and handed over in accordance with company procedures.
- Reconcile other payment methods, including card and mobile-money transactions, against the relevant system reports.
- Identify and report any shortage or excess amount.
- Prepare the required cashier reconciliation or cash-up report
- Shift closing and reconciliation through Reconcile physical cash against the POS sales report.
- Submit cash and supporting documents to the authorized person in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure that all required receipts, payment slips, vouchers, and supporting documents are properly organized and sign the relevant cash handover documentation.
POS SYSTEM OPERATIONS
- Operate the restaurant’s POS system accurately and efficiently.
- Enter customer transactions accurately based on authorized orders received from waiters, bartenders, supervisors, or other authorized staff.
- Verify that, Items are correctly entered, Prices are correct, Quantities are accurate, Discounts are properly authorized, Complimentary items are properly approved and Taxes and service charges are correctly applied.
- Ensure that every sale is recorded through the POS system before payment is accepted.
- Print and issue receipts to customers where applicable.
- Process approved voids, cancellations, refunds, and corrections only in accordance with company procedures and with the required authorization.
- Report POS system errors, network problems, printer failures, or other technical issues immediately to the relevant supervisor or IT/support team.
- Ensure that all transactions are properly closed at the end of the shift.
SALES AND ORDER CONTROL
- Cross-check bills against the orders entered into the system before accepting payment.
- Confirm that quantities and prices on the final bill correspond with the customer’s actual order.
- Monitor transactions for unusual patterns, duplicate entries, unauthorized discounts, excessive voids, or suspicious cancellations.
- Immediately report any suspected revenue leakage, transaction manipulation, or irregular activity.
- Work closely with waiters, bartenders, supervisors, kitchen staff, and management to resolve billing discrepancies.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Certificate or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Hospitality, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a Cashier, preferably in a high-end restaurant, hotel, bar, lounge, or similar hospitality environment.
- Proven experience operating a restaurant POS system and other accounting systems.
- Good knowledge of cash handling and reconciliation procedures.
- Basic computer and numerical skills.
- Good understanding of customer service standards.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
