Active Mama is seeking a qualified, highly motivated Senior Accountant to oversee financial management, record-keeping, and reporting operations for the organization in Mafia, Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Planning & Reporting

• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Lead budget preparation, forecasting, and financial variance analysis to support business decisions.
• Manage daily accounting transactions, general ledger reconciliation, and cash flow operations.

2. Compliance, Taxation & Auditing

• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian statutory tax laws (VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax, Withholding Tax) and regulatory filings.
• Coordinate internal and external audit processes, preparing necessary schedules and documentation.
• Maintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets and prevent financial discrepancies.

3. Payroll & Vendor Management

• Process employee payrolls accurately and on schedule, ensuring timely remittance of statutory contributions.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, maintaining accurate vendor and client records.

Key Qualifications & Experience

1. Education & Professional Certification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university.
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA(T), ACCA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.

2. Experience & Skills

• Relevant accounting experience in a senior or supervisory financial capacity.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, or SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax regulations and financial reporting standards (IFRS).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
