Kilombero Sugar Limited (KSCL), the largest sugar producer in Tanzania, operates in collaboration with Illovo Distillers Tanzania Limited (IDTL) and is part of Illovo Sugar Africa Limited, the largest sugar producer in Africa. Located in the Morogoro region in central-southern Tanzania, the company has two adjacent agricultural estates and sugar factories, Msolwa and Ruembe, situated on either side of the Great Ruaha River, connected by a low-level bridge.
Annually, Kilombero Sugar Limited produces approximately 130,000 tons of sugar from around 1.25 million tons of sugarcane. Of this, 55% is cultivated by the company’s own cane growing operations, while the remaining 45% is supplied by local growers who benefit from extension support, training, and development programs. Through its effective “route to market” business model, Kilombero Sugar Limited has built strong local consumer support for its brown sugar, sold under the ‘Bwana Sukari’ brand.
Currently, Kilombero is one of four sugar producers in Tanzania, which, with a total sugar production of just over 300,000 tons, is a net importer of sugar. The company is an equal-opportunity employer and encourages all qualified candidates to apply.
