Position: Application Architect

This role involves designing, managing, and enhancing the bank’s application architecture to ensure it aligns with business objectives and integrates effectively with core banking and channel systems. The architect ensures compliance with regulatory and security standards while supporting future-ready, scalable technology solutions.

Acting as the link between business needs and technical delivery, the application architect helps create a cohesive and strategic application landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Architecture Design

• Establish and maintain application architecture frameworks, standards, and roadmaps.
• Design secure, scalable, and high-performing application solutions that align with business objectives.
• Ensure seamless integration of applications within the broader enterprise system landscape.
• Promote data-centric architecture and incorporate DevOps methodologies.

Technology Leadership

• Assess and recommend emerging tools, technologies, and development platforms.
• Drive modernization efforts such as cloud adoption, containerization, and microservices implementation.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture to align application initiatives with the overall IT strategy.

Project Engagement

• Provide architectural guidance throughout the application development process.
• Review and endorse technical designs and specifications.
• Ensure architectural decisions are documented and technical debt is properly managed.

Governance & Compliance

• Enforce adherence to architectural frameworks, security protocols, and compliance standards.
• Conduct regular reviews to assess application performance, scalability, and compliance.

Cost Efficiency

• Design application solutions with an emphasis on reducing operational costs, including licensing and maintenance expenses.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with cross-functional teams—business analysts, developers, infrastructure, and vendors—to deliver comprehensive solutions.
• Act as a key consultant on application-related issues within major strategic initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
• At least 5 years of experience in enterprise application architecture, with a minimum of 3 years in the banking or financial services industry.
• Strong analytical capabilities within corporate application landscapes.
• Practical experience with banking systems (e.g., core banking, digital channels), integration technologies (e.g., ESB, API gateways), and cloud-native architecture.
• Familiarity with vendor engagement and technical stakeholder communication.
• Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD tools is advantageous.
• TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification is preferred.
