Claims Specialist – Ports and Terminals at DP World
Job Overview
This role is responsible for managing and resolving claims related to terminal operations, such as damages, shipment losses, and inconsistencies. It requires thorough investigation of each case, coordination with both internal departments and external stakeholders, and ensuring that all claims are handled promptly and in line with company standards and industry regulations.
Position: Claims Specialist – Ports and Terminals
Key Performance Areas:
- Claims Management & Port Operations
- Oversee all incoming and outgoing claims involving the company.
- Review assessments made by insurance adjusters, conduct further inquiries into uncertain claims, and advise on fair settlement amounts.
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive claims strategy, including implementing an online claims approval system and submitting weekly reports to the CFO.
- Participate in investigation meetings with DP World’s internal team to identify root causes of incidents and implement preventive measures.
- Monitor the auctioning process for overstayed goods managed by TRA, ensure recovery of DP World dues, and evaluate monthly reports on goods transferred to TRA, auction outcomes, and collected proceeds.
- Coordinate with CWH for monthly sales account collection and reconcile auction data.
- Analyze claim patterns and collaborate with leadership to mitigate future risks.
- Provide weekly status updates on all open claims involving the company.
- Offer guidance on customer protest letters.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in claims management within the shipping, port, or logistics sector.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced skills in Excel and experience with accounting systems like Oracle.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, keen attention to detail.
- Capable of working under pressure with minimal supervision.
