Job Description: HEMM Electrician

Position Overview:
Dangote is seeking a skilled HEMM (Heavy Earth Moving Machinery) Electrician responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems and components of heavy equipment in line with OEM standards. The role emphasizes ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heavy mobile machinery, with a focus on minimizing downtime and enhancing equipment availability.

Main Responsibilities:

• Execute routine, planned, and emergency electrical maintenance, including overhauls, repairs, and inspections on systems such as starters, alternators, batteries, electronics, and instrumentation in heavy-duty equipment, following manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.

• Maintain daily maintenance logs and parts usage reports as per supervisory instructions.

• Ensure uninterrupted functionality of heavy equipment by proactively addressing auto-electrical issues.

• Uphold cleanliness in the workspace during and after all maintenance tasks.

• Mentor and guide junior technicians and support staff in proper maintenance procedures.

• Troubleshoot and resolve faults in electrical, electronic, and control systems.

• Adhere strictly to PPE and safety policies, reporting any incidents or near misses to the appropriate authorities.

• Properly use and maintain all assigned tools and equipment.

• Recommend and apply modern maintenance techniques to enhance system performance.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications:

• Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or its equivalent.

• Over 5 years of practical experience working with heavy mobile machinery.

Skills & Expertise:

• Proficient in diagnosing electrical/electronic system issues.

• Solid understanding of mining operations, maintenance routines, and safety protocols.

• Strong communication skills.

• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and troubleshoot diagnostic codes.

• Experience using diagnostic tools like CAT ET or Terex software.
